Rethinking the Modern Winery Experience in Camino, El Dorado Wine Country

At Myka Estates, we believe a winery visit should be about more than what is in the glass. Great wine is the foundation, but today’s guests are also looking for a place to slow down, enjoy good food, spend time with people they care about, and leave with a reason to come back.

That philosophy feels especially at home here in Camino, within El Dorado Wine Country.

The winery experience keeps evolving

The way people discover wineries and plan their leisure time has changed dramatically. A tasting room can no longer assume that making good wine and opening the doors is enough. Guests have more choices, more information, and more ways to decide how they want to spend a day.

For us, that means continuing to evolve with them. We put increasing emphasis on experiences, events, and hospitality because a winery visit should fit naturally into the kind of day people want to have. Sometimes that means a relaxed tasting. Sometimes it means lunch, a special event, or simply having enough time to settle in and enjoy the setting.

Food is part of the experience

Food has become an important part of how we welcome guests at Myka Estates. Many members of our team come from restaurant backgrounds, and we offer a seasonal menu designed to pair with our wines and make the tasting experience feel more complete.

We see food as more than an add-on. A thoughtful pairing can change how a wine is experienced, while a good meal can turn a tasting stop into a place where people want to stay awhile. It also gives guests the flexibility to build a day around wine tasting without having to leave the region simply to find lunch.

We change the menu seasonally and incorporate food into many of our events so there is always something new to discover. That freshness matters to us because return visits should feel familiar in the best ways, but never routine.

Hospitality should feel personal

One idea that guides us is “surprise and delight” – looking for small ways to give guests more than they expected. Most people arrive at a winery already hoping to enjoy themselves. Our job is to build on that feeling.

Sometimes that comes from a thoughtful food pairing, a wine someone did not expect to love, an event that feels different from a standard tasting, or a team member who takes the time to understand what a guest enjoys. We hire people who genuinely like serving people, because hospitality is ultimately about human connection.

Our goal is simple: we want people to leave feeling even better than when they arrived. If they remember the wine, the food, the conversation, and how they felt while they were here, then we have created something worth returning to.

Keeping the experience fresh

The wine business will continue to change, and so will the way people discover wineries, plan trips, and choose where to spend their time. We do not see that as a threat. We see it as a reason to keep paying attention, keep adapting, and keep finding better ways to fit wine into people’s lives.

For Myka Estates, that means continuing to make great wine while thinking just as carefully about everything that surrounds it – the food, the events, the hospitality, the team, and the atmosphere. Wine may bring someone through the door, but the full experience is what gives them a reason to come back.
